We ascended the monastery steps leading to his private meeting quarters at a snail's pace, waiting patiently as His Holiness met with individuals and groups ahead of us in line for what seemed exactly the appropriate amount of time - nothing more, nothing less. Perhaps all of our time in India so far had been but a preparation for our audience with His Holiness the Seventeenth Gyalwang Karmapa, head of the Kagyu lineage and one of the most revered spiritual leaders in Tibetan Buddhism.Waiting in line, the suspense aroused curiosity. What was the expectation? We had spent days trying to attain a permit to interview and film His Holiness. Activities in July

On 16th July, 2007, Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche was in Dharamsala as one of the representatives of the Nyingma Lineage who offered Tenshug to His Holiness Dalai Lama. Afterwards, Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche met with Gywalang Karmapa. On 22nd July, His Holiness was chief guest at the College for Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarah, where he gave a talk on Tibetan science, literature and Buddhist philosophy at the annual debate sessions. More then 250 students of the College and three participants of each of the affiliated Buddhist institutions attended. On the 22 July, His Eminence Gyaltsab Rinpoche completed the Kalachakra transmission to His Holiness Gyalwang Karmapa. The complex transmission, called "Shag duen ma Yongsu dakpa Yeshe Gyatsoe Chueth thenn kyi Wang," involves a 362-deities empowerment ("wang"), Drupon Rinpoche (General Secretary) offered ceremonial scarf to commence the ceremony on 15th July, which took place over a period of one week. - Tashi Paljor

His Holiness Dalai Lama's Birthday and Visit to TCV

6 July 2007: On the auspicious day of the 6th of July, His Holiness Karmapa visited His Holiness Dalai Lama's palace early in the morning to offer his respects and good wishes for the celebration of the Dalai Lama's 72nd birthday (Western calendar). HH Dalai Lama presided over the joyous celebration in the courtyard of the Tsuglagkhang (Main Temple), attended by top officials of the Tibetan government in Exile, including Kalon Tripa Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche (Prime Minister), Chairman Karma Choephel (Deputy Speaker), Gyari Dolma (Supreme Justice Commission and Justice Commission). Other Kalons of the Central Tibetan Administration and Kyabje Trulshik Rinpoche were present during the morning function. Fifteen traditional Tibetan songs and dance items were presented by various institutions, including rare performances by schools from the remote and faraway areas of Spiti and Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh.
